RIU Merengue “Viva Dominicana” in POP

Some fabulous news from the RIU Merengue resort in Puerto Plata! There are some new inclusions that are being offered as part of their “Viva Dominicana” program and should not be missed when at the resort.

There will be a Coconut themed beach party where cocktails like the “Coco Loco” will be served in the husk as well as Mamajuna, which is the Dominican Republics native drink. It is famous on the island for being a cure all from everything from the flu, ovarian disorders, a source of vitality and most notoriously as an extremely powerful natural aphrodisiac.

There will be a “Dominican Fair” complete with delicious Zona Criolla (local delicacies and confections) complete with Frio Frio tastings (we refer to them as snow cones) and “Arte Dominicana” representing some local artists. There will be a Jewelry making exhibition by Joyería Lariamber and at the Obsession Cigar Shop on the resort, there will be a live cigar rolling demonstration.

Every morning at 11:00am there will be Latin dancing lessons of the Merengue and Bachata on the beach and then again at 4 p.m. on the poolside. You can also take advantage of the Diving lessons in the pool and participate in Beach volleyball during your stay.
